Colorado State Fair

It's that time.........Dippin Dots, Funnel Cake, Indian Fry Bread, Turkey Leg......now one of those has got your mouth watering....don't lie.

I know for me....I have to get the Dippin Dots and Indian Fry Bread.

Let's face it....there is something at the State Fair for us all...animals, carnival rides and games, exposition, rodeo, concerts and all kinds of crap to buy (my favorite part after Dippin Dots and Indian Fry Bread).

The State Fair website is pretty easy to manuever through.  You just hit the tab that interests you and you have the schedule OR you can hit the day of the week you plan on attending and there is that day's schedule.

One event I cannot wait for is Pets Overboard (I am such an animal lover):
This description is copied from the website:

Pets Overboard!
1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. each day
Sunshine Park

Pets Overboard!! is an exciting and fun show for the whole family, featuring pets rescued from animal shelters. The cast of dogs, cats and rats will keep you laughing and entertained on their journey on board their pirate ship while they look for lost treasure. The show offers great audience participation and ends with well, not a gun fight, but a friendly competition among our K-9 pirates.
The animals in this show have all been rescued from shelters and located by rescue organizations. Fair fans can also ask questions and learn more about pet ownership during each 20-25 minute show
.

Gotta love folks who rescue animals from animal shelters and train them!!

Have a drink...keep your mind sharp....really?

Scientists have long touted the heart benefits of drinking small amounts of alcohol. Newer studies have credited moderate drinking with everything from helping to keep our minds sharp as we age to lowering our risk of developing diabetes.

WOW!!  What better way to keep your mind sharp than to head to Jimmy's Tavern!!!

Health benefits of moderate alcohol use (Mayo Clinic)

Moderate alcohol consumption may provide some health benefits. It may:
  • Reduce your risk of developing heart disease
  • Reduce your risk of dying of a heart attack
  • Possibly reduce your risk of strokes, particularly ischemic strokes
  • Lower your risk of gallstones
  • Possibly reduce your risk of diabetes

I'm thinking that Friday night we can sharpen our brains, reduce the risk of heart disease, attack, stroke, gallstones and diabetes at Jimmy's Tavern while listening to Bill Trujillo!!

Jimmy's Tavern is located at 324 S. McCulloch Ave. in Pueblo West. Tell them Rhonda sent you!

Jimmy's Tavern donated just under $300.00 to PAWS for Life Pueblo a no kill shelter!  This money is greatly needed to help expand their building to be able to shelter cats also.  Way to go Jimmy's!!!!
